About John Pavlina
Currently seeking opportunities for sabbatical (academic year '23-'24). I'm an electrical engineer and tenured professor with sixteen years of combined academic, professional, and research experience in the areas of wireless sensors, experimental radiology, bioimaging technology, RF design and simulation, and surface acoustic wave technology. In my current associate professor role, I’m passionate about empowering undergraduates to pursue research opportunities, implementing innovative teaching and learning techniques in my classes, and developing partnerships with other institutions and companies to further student and university success. I believe that international partnerships and experience enrich our world, our marketplace, and our educational institutions. I completed four years as a postdoctoral researcher in Germany, working at two different institutions in the city of Freiburg. While at the Universitäts Klinikum Freiburg, I conducted simulations and experiments utilizing MRI coils for use with high intensity focused ultrasound ablation techniques. At Albert-Ludwig Universität Freiburg, I researched disaster scenario technological advancements which might be employed in the rescue of buried or trapped people. My graduate work at the University of Central Florida in Orlando focused on creating novel wireless sensor technology for use by NASA. My team employed surface acoustic waves as the sensor platform and created a passive system by which we could detect changes in the environment.
Listed skills include Electrical Engineering, Mri, Electromagnetic Simulation, Matlab, and 14 others.
