Building Maintenance Technician
CurrentStarted off in in the Maintenance and Operations as a Store Room Attendant/Sr. Buyer. While in that position it was my job to provide the maintenance and operations with a fully functional Warehouse that provided the tools, parts and materials they needed to get their jobs done. This consisted of getting bids/quotes on the things they needed as well. I needed to typically get three bids for whatever we needed. From time to time I was asked to travel out to the schools to do projects in hopes that it would get me into the General building Maintenance position. After some years in the store room position, I was promoted to the general building maintenance position where I am trusted by the school district to drive a work truck to and from the school sites. I work off an app with a WO# system that lets me know what work and what site needs attention. School District provides the tools I need on my truck. My work load consists of many different types of trades it can go from concrete to tile to ceiling tiles and t bar ceilings to signs or assisting other trades with their jobs. I am one out of two maintenance technicians in my department that is licensed and responsible for operating a scissor lift and forklift. It’s a constant revolving door of challenges on a daily basis. I am looking forward to my seventeenth year with the school district and hope to some day retire within this same district. I am constantly doing things I know how to do and learning things I have never done before.
