Building Maintenance Technician

Current

United States

Started off in in the Maintenance and Operations as a Store Room Attendant/Sr. Buyer. While in that position it was my job to provide the maintenance and operations with a fully functional Warehouse that provided the tools, parts and materials they needed to get their jobs done. This consisted of getting bids/quotes on the things they needed as well. I needed to typically get three bids for whatever we needed. From time to time I was asked to travel out to the schools to do projects in hopes that it would get me into the General building Maintenance position. After some years in the store room position, I was promoted to the general building maintenance position where I am trusted by the school district to drive a work truck to and from the school sites. I work off an app with a WO# system that lets me know what work and what site needs attention. School District provides the tools I need on my truck. My work load consists of many different types of trades it can go from concrete to tile to ceiling tiles and t bar ceilings to signs or assisting other trades with their jobs. I am one out of two maintenance technicians in my department that is licensed and responsible for operating a scissor lift and forklift. It’s a constant revolving door of challenges on a daily basis. I am looking forward to my seventeenth year with the school district and hope to some day retire within this same district. I am constantly doing things I know how to do and learning things I have never done before.

Sep 2007 - Present

Assistant Supervisor Of Building Maintenance

Town And Country Manor

Santa Ana, California, United States

As the assistant supervisor at Town and country manor I helped lead a team of four building maintenance technicians. We provided maintenance for all three buildings. Two buildings which had close to six hundred fully functional rooms that included a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living room. We also took care of the hospital side and the main kitchen and dining area. My responsibility besides assisting in maintaining these buildings and rooms, was also checking on work orders that our maintenance crew would finish and making sure they were getting done. Going over work orders that would come in and decide them up as needed among maintenance technicians. I would keep an eye on our inventory of parts we used on a daily basis to fix problems. I was on call during the weekends if anything went wrong and took over complete responsibility when my supervisor was gone or took vacation. It wasn’t just building maintenance, it was also building a relationship with those who lived at Town and country manor.

Jan 2006 - Sep 2007

Director Of Building Maintenance

Buena Park, California, United States

This was my first time in a management type role. I was young and had to learn quickly how to deal with the needs of members and employees needs. I was in charge of the custodial staff and the general building maintenance staff. I had the pleasure and opportunity to lead a team of fifteen custodians (men and women) and a team of four general building maintenance men. I was put in charge of taking care of the main club and the old club that the owners used for their business (Chet and Sharon McAuley) it was also the office of their son Rick Mcauly business Aztec oil. It was located down the hill from the club. I was responsible for the ordering of products for the mens and women’s locker rooms along with making sure that things got fixed when they broke all through the clubhouse. My department was responsible for fixing anything in these areas, locker rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, restaurant and bar along with main office, including outside of building such as gulf cart barn. This also included bathrooms on the golf course.
