Johnna Ruocco is a Content Manager | Copywriter | Editor | Storyteller at United Way Greater Toronto. Colleagues describe her as "ohnna was a student in my Fundamentals of Reporting course in the Winter of 2009, and then in my News Reporting and Copy Editing course the following Fall term. She excelled in both classes, receiving the highest mark in each — no mean feat among a group of students memorable for their successes. Quiet and hardworking, she quickly became an outstanding reporter. In the second-year News Reporting and Copy Editing course, students were required to produce an original story per week for Humber College’s award-winning newspaper, the Et Cetera. She was adaptable, a quick study and utterly dependable, delivering tight, well-reported copy with a singular lack of drama at an age where, for many, setbacks can seem insurmountably frustrating. Later in Johnna’s Humber studies her steady hand was welcomed as one of two Managing Editors of the Et Cetera. Since she graduated, I have watched her newspaper career from intern to reporter/photographer to researcher to Editor of award-winning community news organizations, overseeing their transition to digital-first delivery. No surprise, there: she’s a stalwart. "
