Arapahoe County And Denver County

Arapahoe Office March 17, 2005 – October 31, 2010 In the Arapahoe Office I initially handled a County Court case load of 250 or more misdemeanor case in the Littleton County Court for four months. I then transferred to the Juvenile division where I worked for one year defending all Juvenile matters handled by the Arapahoe office. In August of 2006 I took over a felony docket of roughly 100 cases, where I represented all levels of felonies. I handled my first homicide case in my third year of practice and it went to trial the following year. I was in the Arapahoe office for five and a half years.Denver Office November 1, 2010 – December 17, 2015I transferred to the Denver Public Defender office in 2010. There I had a full felony docket of roughly 70-80 cases for two and a half years. I then became the Intern Supervisor for three years. As such, I was responsible for the hiring, training and managing of all interns in the Denver office. The internship program was divided up into three four month sessions: fall, spring and summer. Each session had five to twelve students who participated in investigation, research and writing, trial preparation projects and certified work which involved appearing in court and actual representation of clients. I was also responsible for managing the office training's on changes in the law and in areas of practice needing improvement. In 2014, I assisted our office with the integration of the Public Defender into first advisement's in misdemeanor cases in 4C. Then in 2015, I was solely responsible for integrating the Public Defender’s office into felony first advisement's in 2300.
