I am lead trial counsel and have had the privilege of litigating some of the most complex and interesting patent cases in Canada. This includes defending many of the first challenges to innovative biologic medicines in Canada. I have a PhD in biochemistry, so it is no surprise that much of my practice involves advocating for companies before the Federal Court Canada on patent infringement actions under the Patented Medicine (Notice of Compliance) Regulations (e.g. the Canadian equivalent to ANDA Hatch-Waxman Litigation). That said, my team and I have litigated IP cases involving many different fields of technology including, computer servers, sporting goods, supplements, construction methods, car parts, gaming software, farm equipment, and many more. I addition I have extensive experience with developing regulatory and IP strategies for pharmaceutical products regulated by Heath Canada, including challenging decisions made by Health Canada both at the administrative and Court level. Finally, in my spare time I coach minor league hockey (yes - quintessentially Canadian).
