I started as a tanker driver, hauling crude oil, from leases to a storage facility, pipeline facility, or rail cars, to unload. After about a year and a half, I was promoted to dispatcher. My duties now include, creating a dispatch for a day shift and a night shift of between 16 and 26 drivers, as well as hauling some from time to time. I also oversee, the loading of 25,000 barrels of crude oil onto a barge, from two 50 ft., 25,000 barrel tanks, which I inventory daily to calculate the amount of crude oil on hand, to schedule barge loadings. I have to also interact with lease supervisors(pumpers), to schedule when they need oil picked up and hauled daily, as well a report, and or clean, or repair lease issues. I am also a extension of our safety department, to making sure that our trucks, and drivers, are D.O.T certified to be on the roadways. I must also, enter driver loads for dispatch on a electronic ticketing system,(Qualcomm), as well as track the loads picked up, and not picked up, by drivers, throughout the day and night. I am a qualified hazmat cleanup and removal of small to medium spills. I must type, copy, file, and calculate all types of ticket, using various types of office equipment, computers, calculators, copy machines, etc. There is a great deal more, that is involved in doing my job, to insure, that our district operates efficiently, and it is most of the time a 24-7, job.
