Recently joined American Family Insurance as the Risk and Incident Management Director (Jan 2021). Currently responsible for security, intelligence and investigations support, and emergency management to protect American Family employees and assets. Johnny Gutierrez holds an Undergraduate Degree in the Administration of Justice from Penn State University and a Master's Degree in Human Resource Development from George Washington University. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy for law enforcement executives. He also earned the title of the DHS Senior Fellow by completing the 2011 U.S. Department of Homeland Security Fellows Program. Before joining American Family Insurance, Johnny worked at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). There, he was a division deputy chief of the Office of Security and Integrity, where he was responsible for strategic and operational planning activities, including security, emergency management, business continuity and organizational resilience, and compliance programs for USCIS, a global agency of approximately 30,000 employees and over 250 domestic and international locations. During his time at USCIS, Johnny received multiple awards highlighting his dedication to the security field. Awards include 2018 USCIS Director's Award for Continuity during Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria Response Efforts, USCIS Director's Award for Boston Bombing Task Force Response Efforts, USCIS Management Directorate Award for Exemplary Teamwork on behalf of USCIS Command Center and USCIS Director's Award for Haiti Earthquake Response Efforts.Before joining USCIS, Johnny served as an active duty Marine Corps Officer. As a Military Police Officer, Johnny gained invaluable experience in physical and personnel security. Johnny's military assignments include; tours with a Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), Military Police (MP) Company, 1st Marine Division. He is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Johnny continues to serve his country as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserves.
