Johnny Otto is an award-winning Animation Writer/Director and the founder of Out Draw Animation. He has received awards from Animation Magazine’s WACFEST and Classy-Csupo for his writing and directing. Otto is the creator of several series including Super Fan, Family Time Travel, Zombies Whatever, Izzy & Zan, Bionic Squad and Sean the Worm. He’s also been featured in MovieMaker Magazine.In addition to writing and directing, Otto also designs many of his characters and voices over a dozen of them. Otto has also taught Film Production at the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada and recently was a Writer for the Netflix Docuseries, “Human: The World Within”, produced by Stephen David Entertainment. As a Fine Artist, Otto has had solo and group shows at Radiant Space, Headquarters, Ministry, Novian/MIller Space, Auctioned for Project Angel Food/Divine Design hosted by David Hockney, and has been featured in several publications including the LAWeekly, Left Bank Magazine and Art Reveal Magazine. In 2021 he started Art Squat Magazine and is currently the Editor-in-Chief. Featured Artists have included Dave Navarro, WRDSMTH, Plastic Jesus, Svetlana Talabolina, Blek le Rat, Billy Morrison, Risk and many many others. He was born in Bay Village, Ohio in 1966, the grandson of Czech and German immigrants. Otto is also Social Activist & the Founder of Ottophobia. He donates a portion of his income from his art to various charities. His artwork is greatly influenced by the Neo-Expressionistic (The Wild Ones) artists of the 70's and 80's and by African Art which he saw at the Detroit Institute of Arts when he was a child. His work has been compared to Jean-Michel Basquiat, Picasso, Keith Haring, Chagall, and many other influential artists of the last century, and is collected around the world. In 2018 he collaborated with Poet Orlando Kennedy on the book, "Man or Monster", and most recently completed the book, "Art is Unnecessary", both featuring his original paintings and street art. As a Filmmaker, Otto optioned his first script to Joel Silver when he was 26 and has been featured in MovieMaker Magazine for his series of short films called 'Slimdunce'. He writes, directs, edits and produces his own films, as well as acting as cinematographer.
