Starting out as a cadet at Logan City Council in 1984, John has over 30 years' experience in local government and has held management positions in every Council department. Having worked his way through the entire business to become the Chief Operating Officer, John knows the business of local government intimately.Having held the Chief Operating Officer/ Deputy CEO position at Logan City Council for over 15 years, John drove the Local Government Reform Agenda which saw the Council increase significantly overnight to become the 5th largest Council by population in Australia and had the 3rd largest local government budget in the country ($840 million 2015/16). John is passionate about helping bring people together to find solutions to complex problems. His key focus areas are:- Governance, financial diligence, audit.- Understanding team dynamics, providing authentic leadership and organisational culture.- Professional mentoring and development, performance management and accountability.- Mediation and strategic planning and decision making.John has a Masters in Public Administration, a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (CPA) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.John is a Fellow and former President of Local Government Managers Australia (FLGMA), a former National Director of Local Government Professionals Australia and is currently National Audit Committee Chair. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Justice of the Peace (Qualified).
