Designed Smarsh's Enterprise Archive for archiving, supervising, searching, and discovering electronic communications for regulated industries that require WORM-compliant storage. Some of the largest global banks use this product for all their eComms. Received six patents for the archiving and supervision components. The product was designed for enterprise scale using technologies such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Apache Kafka, Hazelcast, and Amazon S3. Recently designed and developed supporting services for cross-cloud archive migrations, language detection, OCR image scanning, large index upgrades, and index management.

As a firefighter for GVFD, I respond to: medical aids, accidents, hazardous situations, structure fires and wildland fires. Our fire district covers approximately 60 sq. miles and we provide mutual aid to neighboring fire districts.

I was the first employee at FaceTime Communications, which was eventually renamed Actiance. Our initial product was a web-based CRM service that I helped design and develop. The Dot-Com crash forced us to pivot, and we began to develop software to record electronic communications for regulated industries. We started with Chat/IM and then moved into Collaboration and Social communication. Our Vantage and Socialite products are still used by many of the largest global banks and are a part of Smarsh's Communications Capture portfolio. As a Java developer, I designed, developed, and modeled the multi-channel eComm data for storage in multiple databases (SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL). I coded the database layer and initially did some front-end development until a more suitable employee was hired. I developed multiple export formats and integrated with EMC Centera for compliance storage. I developed a Tableau-like product for producing reports from stored relational data. I received two patents for our eComms capture products.

When Fujitsu first acquired Unisoft, my projects were focused on developing performance enhancements for Fujitsu's Unix OS. Later, I joined a team to develop an online multi-player virtual world called WorldsAway. I was the server developer responsible for communications, administration, and storage. High-performant databases capable of reading/writing real-time events were not available in this era, so I wrote my own memory-mapped object-store. Sometimes I took a break from the backend C/C++ coding and wrote some of the in-world object behavior for the users to interact with using TCL. I received one patent for WorldsAway's scalable multi-server design and one for the in-world Ghost object (a different type of ghosting).

At Unisoft, we primarily ported System V Unix to other platforms. Generally, this was low-level kernel work and device-driver development. We also won a contract to develop the X-Open compliance test suite, where I was the lead developer. This experience taught me how every Unix system call, library routine, and command line utility was implemented.

AT&T Bell Laboratories was the home of System V Unix. At Bell Labs, I was well-trained in Unix internals and administration. My department supported a port of System V to the IBM/Amdahl mainframes. These beasts were used to develop the software for AT&T's 4ESS and 5ESS telecom switches. I became proficient in debugging kernel faults and once deployed switch software in an underground bunker designed to run the AT&T network if there was a nuclear war.
