John was selected by the corporate senior leadership team to play a key role in the launch of the iGen3, a groundbreaking color digital press the future of the company hinged upon, handling the strategic direction for preparing the sales and technical populations to work in the construct of a new customer enviroment. He crafted the worldwide learning strategy and comprehensive compentency-based sales and analyst continuums. He then led the instructional design, development, deployment and continuous improvment of sales and analyst learning. This involved the management of 4 curriculm development teams concurrently. This work fully prepped the sales and technical support teams for the critical shift from analog to digital techology in the graphic communications industry and quickly established Xerox as credible in the space and increased Xerox market share by developing core graphic communications industry skills and knowledge training programs as the front end of each continuum. John prepped the C-suite with critical background knowledge to ensure the successful positioning of Xerox across the Commercial Printing industry. He also collaborated with the Rochester Institute of Technology to develop senior executive color competency programs, exposing the top 250 US executives to the business considerations required to successfully penetrate the commercial print marketplace.
European Field Operations Manager - Color Products
John was responsible for the development of marketing initiative’s, sales incentives, training deployment and a portion of the Companies initial participation the world’s largest trade fair for Printing, Drupa, held every four years in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Worldwide Sales Training Manager - Color Mid-Volume Products
John was selected to lead the development of sales training for this start-up portion of Xerox's business. Prior to his appointment sales training was a one time event - part of a year-start sales kick-off. John designed and developed learning continuums based on the entry experience of the Learner. All of the training deliverables were translated in French, Italian, Spanish, German and Brazilian Portuguese and he cross-trained the trainers prior to each product launch. During this period revenue from the Xerox color business grew over 1000% year on year. In 1994 Xerox had 27 dedicated color sales specialists. At the end of 1999 all of the 7000 strong sales force was color trained in hands-on environments. At this point in time Xerox had the second largest direct sales force in the world only bested by General Electric. In 1999 Xerox color training was the topic of a feature article in Selling Power magazine.From 1985-1994 John had multiple US-based Learning and Development roles of increasing responsibility.
