Executive Director In Southwest LouisianaSbp Sep 2021 - Dec 2023New Orleans, La, UsHelping communities recover from environmental and climate disasters while working to build them back stronger against the storms to come. As the Executive Director of SBP in Southwest Louisiana I built a brick and mortar operating site and raised and leveraged millions of dollars in local and national philanthropic fundraising services for Southwest Louisiana, an area that experienced an unprecedented five federally declared compounding disasters in less than one year. I oversaw strategy formulation, operations, programs, budgeting and hired and lead a staff of AmeriCorps members, construction professionals, and a robust client services team focused at reducing recovery time from the disasters, mitigating future impacts of climate disasters, and helping to create a framework for future disaster recovery for compounding disasters and climate mitigation interventions. I was also instrumental in helping to advise local officials and other non profits on leveraging CDBG-DR funding for disaster rebuilding, and proudly helped procure millions of needed recovery dollars. -
Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition Statewide Network LeaderLouisiana Cancer Prevention & Control Programs (Lcp) Jun 2014 - Jul 2020As the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition (LHCC) Statewide Network Leader I was responsible for helping to build, equip and empower diverse coalitions in all regions of the state of Louisiana to address and fight chronic disease in a variety of innovative ways. This included developing, and advocating for a variety of policy, systems and environmental changes in areas ranging from transportation policy, to food systems in both rural and urban communities, and from the hyper local to statewide level. I coordinated the efforts of all regional LHCC coalitions as well as community level coalitions statewide, ensuring the strategic implementation of LHCC key stakeholder goals at both the state and local level. I was responsible for ensuring that the LHCC’s vision, mission and values are effectively and continually communicated to all levels of the organization, governmental and social sector partners. I was also responsible for overseeing and executing the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition Mini-Grant Program that provided seed funding ranging from $1000-$2500 to numerous projects and organizations that combat the two biggest causes of chronic disease: tobacco and obesity. In addition to advertising and promoting the grant to potential applicants, I guided applicants through the application process, created and facilitated the application selection committee, and oversaw the contracting and distribution of the grant funding. Once the funds were distributed I provided technical assistance throughout each projects execution to ensure that they were executed in line with the deliverables and parameters of the funders.
