Hello Survivors, so glad to see in in spring 2021. We maintained existence while more than half a million have not and since you're reading this on some sort of computer you still have a roof over your head. Glad to know this.I made it too, without dealing with health issues. My problem was careerwise - hospitality. Living in the Nashville, TN area note that over 60% of those with a job connected to travel and/or hospitality lost their jobs. I'm one of those. I'm sharing this for info, not to benefit by pity. Many people in 2020 had their lives torn apart much worse than I did. My wife and I are much better than most. We don't have major bills and will not lose our home. What I did lose was my job - my career as a concierge at one of the larger hotels in the Nashville area. Getting rid of me and the approx 1600 others at the end of January was business. I understand and I hope they will soon be able to get people back to work - whether I'm one of these or not.The question I've asked since being placed on furlough the first time last year was, what to do now? I'll probably attempt to return to a hotel, but there are two important factors about me I can't shake: 1. My age. I know the law, but there are ways around everything and I turn 67 in July.2. I learned at the end of my last employment that it didn't matter how much I cared about the positon. Again, it was business, but I didn't matter enough to keep me. If I go back to a hotel, it won't be the same. It will only be a job. I will know that any crisis and I'm probably gone again. I'll be there for the pay.So I'm making changes in my life. I have begun a YouTube channel called, Nashville Travel Concierge and I will be attempting to use this platform to help me expand. The goal will be to attract viewers and survivors. I'll try to be interesting, but one can also skip over me easily.Thank You.
