Senior EngineerUnit Inspection 1977 - 1984Specialised non-destructive testing services not covered by branch offices. These were: eddy current tube inspection, thermal imaging, vibration analysis, environmental noise measurements, dynamic balancing, closed circuit television inspection, strain measurements, leak detection, computer assisted ultrasonic inspection and acoustic emission. As the team was small I obtained experience in all of these methods. Worked on development and manufacture of specialised electronic instrumentation such as: a radiation monitor designed for use in gamma radiography, a personal radiation alarm, an electro- magnetic acoustic transducer for high temperature thickness measurement, a Kurtosis meter for rotating machine health monitoring and a crack depth meter based on the principle of a.c. potential drop measurement. Team leader for all commercial and technical aspects of the specialised site services for Acoustic Emission and Computerised Ultrasonic Inspection.
