Begining in June 2016, as an operating executive/ executive in residence at Bernhard Capital Partners, John cooperated to develop and executed the investment thesis for Utility/Power Services that included sourcing, closing and executing on the strategy that became Allied Power. In Early 2017, John co-founded and launched Allied Power as a BCP portfolio company focused on Maintenance, Modifications and Outage Services for Nuclear and Fossil Power Plants as the Chief Operating Officer. The Allied Team quickly grew the business to over 3500 FTEs at peak and over $350 million in Revenue in 12 months.

With the Moreno Group, founded and launched Sunora Energy Solutions--a joint venture between NRG Solar and GCL-Poly of China, to provide innovative Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) and fabrication services to the utility and distributed solar markets. Building from NRG’s industry leading backlog of projects, GCL’s global leadership position in solar equipment manufacturing, and a series of value levers, we developed a high value alternative to the current market for delivery of renewable energy projects. The focus is on using scale, innovation and standardization to drive down the total installed cost of projects, enabling mainstream adoption of renewable energy. In its first full year of operation, the new venture successfully executed on over 40 MegaWatts of renewable energy projects, primarily Solar in North America. Ultimately providing development, engineering, procurement and construction support for over $2B in renewable energy projects. Sunora became a wholly owned subsidiary of NRG in early 2013 and was consolidated with NRG Renew in 2014. Served as CEO and member of the Board of Directors until and trough this transition.

Joined Moreno Group, private equity backed by Riverstone, LLC, to head up consolidation of Moreno’s on-shore domestic operations, maintenance, modification and capital construction businesses (Dynamic Industrial Services, Dii LLC, Dynamic Power, and the Clear River Construction subsidiaries). The businesses provided a broad range of field services to the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry as well as power generation, government entities and facilities. Provided significant pull through and leverage for Moreno’s market leading modular fabrication capabilities, Southern Steel, ARC Industries and KCI subsidiaries. Formed a strategic partnership with this group and NRG Energy to focus on improving cost and performance in both plant services and capital projects. This effort lead to the creation of the platform company that would ultimately become Sunora Energy Solutions.

Headed the US Operations and Maintenance Business as President of Jacobs Field Services, NA. In this role, responsible for 70 different sites with 6000+ employees serving 45 clients across the US. Full P&L responsibility for $700 million performance unit with continuous presence operations and maintenance services as well as major roles on turnarounds, shutdowns, outages and sustaining capital programs. Primary lines of business included oil and gas, industrial process, manufacturing and food processing. Complete responsibility for developing and managing the team to deliver the safe, event free, profitable executions of the work as well as development and execution of the strategic plan, operating practices and continuous improvement of the organization.

As Executive Vice President of Operations, was responsible for operational management of the $1+ billion division with over 12.000 employees including both the Power and Process Sectors and all Business Lines. Managed Division performance including P&L, forecasting and strategic planning. Provided direct oversight for business development, human resources, training, EHS, risk management, finance and accounting, as well as administration of overhead departments and shared services including operations management, project management, marketing, legal, IT, quality, project controls, project administration, procurement and subcontracting.Previously held the position of VP of Operations of the Power Sector with responsibility for full business line P&L on maintenance, modification and construction contracts across all generation (fossil, renewable and nuclear). Prior to promotion to VP, was Executive Director of Business Operations of the Power Sector.
