The goal of Shepherd Center is to deliver life-renewing neurorehabilitation with unwavering heart, humor, and hope. As a PT/OT Aide/Technician there are a plethora of responsibilities and opportunities. Assisting in transfers on nursing units, preparing for physical therapy sessions, conducting occupational therapy groups is a short list that just scratches the surface of a day in the life at Shepherd. I am able to build connections with patients and their families as we work daily to rehabilitate them.

Intern in the Dr. Ben-Horin shellfish pathology lab. Assist with daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly sampling for many different shellfish labs at CMAST (Center for Marine Sciences and Technology). Work closely with Dr. Ben-Horin to decipher reason of high spring mortality of oysters off the North Carolina coast by testing many different variables on both diploid and triploid oysters at a variety of stages of development.

As a rising senior in high school attending the North Carolina School of Science and Math's Summer Ventures in Science and Math's camp, research was conducted under Dr. Eric Anderson at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Research took place over a two week period with a two week period prior getting campers familiar with research techniques and protocols. Was teamed up with Alexa Hamm to pursue research in Cystic Fibrosis and the associated bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Our research won the camp Catalyst award and we were given the opportunity to present at the State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research Symposium (SNCURS) at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.
