I have been a Financial Services professional for over 25 years and have seen a huge amount of change during that time and am around to tell the tale! I am qualified to Level 4 and have my SPS.My clients fall into two distinct categories.Wealth accumulators who are trying to build a secure financial future and to become financially independent by growing their wealth. Coupled with this they want to ensure security for themselves and their family in the event of death or long term illness.Wealth preservers who are generally close to, at or into retirement. These clients have worked hard to accumulate wealth and wish to preserve it for their own benefit to meet income needs and to pass their wealth to their children in the most tax efficient manner. My role is to work with my clients by setting achievable goals and using their existing resources to make their plans a reality within the confines of their set of financial circumstances.Financial planning is at it's heart very simple; if you save some money you'll have some in the future, if you've accumulated wealth it's important to preserve that wealth and ensure it works well for you and lastly if you plan for a catastrophe then you will still be able to maintain your lifestyle. To that end I subscribe to the GROW principle:G Goals: have clearly stated and specific goalsR Reality: where you are now in realtion to your goalsO Options: what obstacles you have, what options you haveW Way forward: what needs to be done to achieve your goalsThis applies to every aspect of financial planning be it for retirement, savings and investments, having adequate protection in place and preserving wealth.
