Working as consultant to Qualcomm.WiFi (802.11) verification using UVM based Testbench.Bluetooth/WiFi/LTE coexistence verification.

Responsible for the UK Project Psion Handheld (Windows CE) product. Managed its development and maintenance from inception through to ITSO certification by a third party test-house in Brussels.Developed a Qt based production and integration test tool for the range of Linux based VIX ERG products to improve the useability of the current script based system and to provide a step towards fully automated testing.Maintained and enhanced existing range of VIX ERG products while contributing to future development and design endeavours.Authored the Merseyside (UK) Europay/Mastercard pilot interface specification on behalf of VIX ERG. This involved liaising with Royal Bank of Scotland, Mastercard and other third-party developers.

Achieved the role of Bluetooth data expert at Norwood systems and played a major role in the definition and implementation of the Cordless Telephony solution.Represented Norwood Systems at Bluetooth UnplugFest in Nice, France where product inter-operability testing and problem resolution was performed during intense inter-company round-table sessions.

Performed research and development in the area of Networking and Wireless Communications encompassing Bluetooth, Wireless LAN, 2.5 and 3rd generation cellular communications, OSGi, Intranet/Internet access mechanisms, handheld consumer devices (eg. Palm, Symbian and Windows CE devices) and mobile phones.Involved in the design of a wireless network comprised of a number of localised Bluetooth personal area networks joined together by a Wireless LAN (802.11b) backhaul.Investigated the application of Java networking technology to aspects of the project, including Network Management, Distributed Networks and Adhoc Networking.Developed a Software Defined Radio in the PMR space. Involved the use of both TETRA and MPT 1327 communication protocols. The development platform was both embedded processor (MPC750 and MPC860T) and DSP based. Code was written in 'C'. VxWorks was used as the operating system on both embedded processors.

Developed a forms based user interface which was used to configure, monitor and manage a number of ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) products. The development was implemented using ‘C’ on a UNIX platform and the parser was written with the aid of YACC.

Involved in the design and implementation of a secure communications modem that ran on an Intel i960 embedded processor using the VxWorks operating system. Design of the Call Control level software made extensive use of SDL (Specification and Description Language). Implementation encompassed device drivers and Call Control software.Responsible for setting up the Simulation, Debug and Test environments. Ported application onto the Simulation environment and performed initial testing prior to any hardware being available. Integrated TCL (Tool Command Language) into this environment and used it as the basis for writing a custom test language which was used as a means of injecting messages into the system and monitoring results.

Developed embedded Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) applications for a range of Intellect payment terminals incorporating both magnetic stripe and smart cards for the Australian and Dutch markets.

Ported an ISDN stack onto the client’s hardware. The target platform was a 68K processor running the VxWorks operating system. A simulation and debug environment was used during development while a test harness was developed for the purpose of testing the layer 3 signalling protocol (Q.931).

Security Project for COSINE community. This project involved the specification of a security architecture for the COSINE network. As part of this project I was responsible for implementing a Certification Authority.Involved in the development of a Conformance Test Tool for testing P3 and P7 protocols as part of X.400. Responsible for the definition of the standardised tests which were written using Tree and Tabular Combined Notation (TTCN).Involved in the development of a Reference Implementation for X.400. I designed and implemented a gateway for an X.400 message store system. This system was implemented in real-time Pascal on a Unix based system. The development work involved extensive use of Presentation Layer Services and ASN.1.
