I am an attorney, start-up entrepreneur CEO, consultant/adviser, motivator/coach, and an author and speaker in the automotive industry.A born curious problem solver and exponential (non-linear) thinker, I have a passion for building and energizing cohesive cross functional teams, and innovative strategic partnerships, among a broad array of diverse constituencies around a common project or goal. A veteran of many start-up ventures, most piloting disruptive technology innovations, I have taken companies from concept, to “bootstrapped” pilot roll out, to venture funded, rapidly scaled growth – from a couple of founders to hundreds of employees, over a short period of time.Having always straddled the world of technology and automotive ventures, I now am fascinated with creating retail mobility platforms that allow all consumers an easy, transparent, risk free digital way to purchase a vehicle. The company I recently founded, DriveItAway, has evolved into the first national dealer focused mobility platform that enables car dealers to sell more vehicles in a seamless way through eCommerce, with its exclusive Pay as You Go app-based subscription program. DriveItAway provides a comprehensive turn-key, solutions driven program with proprietary mobile technology and driver app, insurance coverages and training to get dealerships up and running quickly and profitably in emerging online sales opportunities. In addition, I most recently helped create the Drive For Freedom Foundation, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit created to alleviate the “Poverty of the Carless.”In addition, I act as an adviser to many start-up enterprises, both at inception and at “strategic inflection points,” when stakeholders are looking for a motivating “energizer” or change agent. I have been called by many different organizations, as diverse as automotive manufacturers to use these skills in initiating new projects, or introduce new products, for their retailers, in each case using my motivational ingenuity, during times of economic crises, to the University City Science Center to coach and mentor first time, underrepresented entrepreneurs with an idea and dream.I am at my best creating, motivating and leading entrepreneurial teams, around new ideas, business ventures and disruptive technologies, both in strategic planning and “in the trenches” execution.john@possumato.com
