Leader in the Operations directorate of the Leadership Computing Facility at Argonne National Lab. Team lead role include hiring, performance appraisals, and directing effort of subordinates. Additional responsibilities include budgetary responsibilities for control account management on "Theta" and "Aurora" supercomputer projects.

Member of Operations team for the Leadership Computing Facility at Argonne National Lab. Primary job functions included project management, configuration management, functioning as subject matter expert for infrastructure services, deployment of new services. Responsibilities include acting as second level support, and generating project work for the group.Major accomplishments include: deployment of management infrastructure for new computational facility, including authentication, DNS, and other standard services; chairing Data Management committee to promote communication between disparate groups and enforce change control over data sources; managed the installation of Challenger, a 1024-node Bluegene/P supercomputer; managed installation of VMware ESXi 5 cluster and migration of bare metal systems to virtual environments; organized subgroup of Operations team systems admins into Infrastructure helping prompt reorganization of LCF Operations as well as the division.

Primary job functions are as subject matter expert for infrastructure applications, development of new services and master trouble shooter for the Information Technology Division’s Unix Services group. Responsibilities include participation in on-call rotation, managing customer relations, and generating project work for the group. This is all in addition to my base responsibility as a UNIX and Linux systems administrator.For the summer of 2010, I am mentoring a college intern on a project, “Comparison of Dominant Compilers in HPC Environments”. I started and coordinated multi-phase initiative to update user-accessible web documentation for Unix Services. In 2007, I consolidated several disparate compute clusters into the Brookhaven Linux Cluster (BLC) and developed projects to modernize the resources over subsequent years including upgrades to storage and processing. In 2007, I also I coordinated and managed installation of the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) Theory Group cluster and two years later I developed specifications for upgrades in with CFN Theory group for upgrades to storage and processor capacity. Developed and implemented pilot program for Centrify Direct Control Active Directory Authentication software for Linux/UNIX desktops and servers then coordinated the installation throughout the Laboratory network as well as subsequent rolling upgrades.

Responsible for security and systems administration of the Law Enforcement Online (LEO) and InfraGard networks. Managed implementations and operations of UNIX systems including Solaris, FreeBSD and Redhat Linux. Managed multiple hardware and software VPN solutions. Provided first and second tier troubleshooting support. Migrated e-mail transport from Sendmail to Postfix and spearheaded projects to introduce web based email services to Law Enforcement Online. Authored Perl scripts to manage user mailboxes. Managed and maintained BIND installation and DNS data. Developed documentation for disaster recovery and system rebuilds. Worked with Sun Microsystems to install and configure Sun One Directory server and Meta Directory server

Managed milestone upgrades to Lightning’s network backbone with the establishment of multi-site OC-12 ring and the introduction of new co-location facilities. Provisioned leased line services from T-1 through OC-12. Improved and expanded existing co-location facilities. Coordinated Y2K precautions and emergency procedures. Managed DNS space and IP allocations. Negotiated for additional IP allocations from the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN). Managed 20 UNIX systems. Consulted in merger talks with another ISP. In 1995, co-founded Lightning Internet Services, LLC. with Reid Fishler. Lightning Internet Services, LLC sold to Hurricane Electric in 2002.
