I am leading the Innovation team at Frontier for Network Architecture. This includes driving research and development initiatives, defining strategic direction for Passive Optical Networks (PON) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), and spearheading our patent program.

Network Architecture: Access & Consumer Premises Equipment

Responsible for the end-to-end architecture, definition and production of Verizon’s next generation IoT service gateway. (FiOS Quantum Gateway Ver 5.) This required direct oversight of the end to end hardware platform. This was done using an agile development model. Managed CM/JDM/ODM partners to ensure high quality products were developed according to schedule. Led the detailed design, implementation, testing, and contract manufacturing of the product. Championed the prototyping and development of a standard GPON OMCI stack. This also required detailed API level knowledge of carrier grade operations and deployment strategies for Voice Video Data and OSS systems. Other responsibilities included oversight of board bring up including, PCB Layout, Optimization, and Industrial design. Approve/Deny authority over all changes to HW configuration changes. Act as escalation point for team to review and authorize changes. Created/chaired cross functional team to identify and obtain multi-organizational alignment. Directed the negotiations, agreement, and enforcement of new service level agreements with internal and external partners.

Sr Manager Cloud Services Platform.Responsible for the overall definition and execution of the Value Added Services IntegrationPlatform (VASIP). Established relationships with VAS partners and Verizon Product Managers (Service Owners) and IT Development teams to evaluate and optimize the end-to-end Vendors/Partner engagements including direction over contracts, Product engagement, technical integration, product testing and revenue assurance. This required creating a new integration platform that could be exposed to our partners via an SDK and then reintegrating all 14 of the existing partners into it. This included the oversight of a cross functional Tiger team to deliver weekly results to Sr. executive management of any impact on revenue (360 Million) across Value added services portfolio. • Responsible for budget and roadmap of platform.• Define and implemented new contracts with partners.• Created/chaired cross functional Tiger team to identify and obtain multi-organizational alignment. • Directed the negotiations, agreement, and enforcement of new service level agreements with internal and external partners. • Define and drove adoption of new SDK and on-boarding program.• Doubled preexisting system integrator output meanwhile reducing expense by 20% in first 90days. • Delivered project a full 3 months ahead of schedule and 18% under budget.

Principal Architect “Internet of Things” Connected Home Program. Principal Architect for Verizon Connected Home Program (IOT Cloud) including original project definition, proposal, product roadmap, architectural definition and implementation of a Service Delivery Platform (SDP). The SDP brokers multiple 3rd party cloud providers to work harmoniously thru our service gateway. Developed a service gateway with an ARM reference board using Linux with OSGi, plus the enhancement of the OSGi stack to create a device manager for DLNA, ZWAVE, Zigbee abstraction. This enhancement was shared with and adopted by the OSGi alliance to be included in the 5.0 specification. The Service gateway also required transcoding capabilities that required the optimization of FFMEG at the assembly level and the optimization of the JRE. The Service Delivery Platform was architected to scale for both Dept of Energy Demand Response and HL7 security requirements. This was also using XMPP for real-time communication to the service gateway. Semantic lookup (OWL) via a Service Registry and Business Processing Execution Language (BPEL/BPMN) engine to provider higher-level automation including CPE software and firmware management as well as User Interface abstraction layer for Web, Mobile, STB, CE integration and setup. • Driving Product innovation and development • Responsible for end to end scope delivery,. • Created and drove adoption of new OSGi certification process. • Purposed and drove adoption of new Zwave specification.• Created and drove adoption for hardware testing platform implemented in RMA facilities. • Product/Service won CES 2011 “Top5 Finalist best new product.”Technology leveraged: Webshpere Application Server (WAS), Webshpere Message Broker (WMB), Webshpere Process Server (WPS), Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGi), MQTT, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Open Source Solutions Integrations using Agnostic Interfaces, Java, Oracle, C, C++, .Net Framework 2.0 -5.x., XMPP.

Senior Manager, Consumer Electronics Feb 2003-Aug 2011Oversaw the creation and execution of new Skunkworks Team: Envisioning, design, development, delivery, operational analytics and driving improvement of several innovative products and services. Chief Hardware architect on consumer electronic products including Verizon Connected Home, Home Control, Verizon One (TIOMAP), Verizon Hub (ARM11, BlackFin, Touchscreen, VoIP) and others prototypes utilizing various ARM, MIPS, DSP, and Microcontrollers. Chief Software Architect for development on several embedded software modules including; VoIP, Video Conferencing with H.264 in HD, embedded speech processing, DECT interface, Femtocell interfaces EVDO interfaces, DLNA, Media Server. Device Management Software (Firmware Management), Connection Managers, Device Abstraction, Remote Management. Led envisioning, functional design and functional prototype development of several proof of concept products. Technical Program Manager for the Process and Strategy group this entailed envisioning, creating, and deployment of the working environment for the Phone Product Creation Centers (R&D) three years in the future. This included designing the end to end program tools and product management tools that focused on improvements for Mobile Phone development and performance verification of prototype units to the GSM set of Mobile handset customers. Senior Project Manager of Technical Integration (EDI Manager) with Nokia’s Global PDM system (eMatrix) to various other systems including SAP, BEA Tuxedo, home grown Oracle applications. This required oversight of B2B system integration projects in multi-phased software development projects focusing on SOA. This included planning, development, implementation and support while facilitating SDLC, CMM, and Six Sigma Methodologies.
