Director of Operations within the Photon Sciences Directorate (PSC). The Directorate is responsible for operating the Advanced Photon Source (APS) which is a major scientific user facility funded by the Department of Energy. Has overall responsibility for the operations of the APS and PSC. Provides technical/functional leadership in the integration of varied resources needed to meet safety, technical, and fiscal requirements of the Advanced Photon Source within Argonne National Laboratory.

Responsible for various areas and projects within the Photon Sciences Directorate including information assurance, experiment development, and accelerator readiness. This work includes helping to design and configure the engineering configuration management data system used by the facility.

Senior Advisor in the Energy and Global Security Directorate. Responsible for constructing strategic and tactical direction to address performance issues in areas involving radiological work, isotope production, and national security interests.

Responsible for delivering effective and efficient mission support services (e.g. Safety, HR, Finance, Business Systems, Infrastructure) in a strategic manner to enhance the scientific and technological research performed at the Laboratory.

Provides leadership within Operations directorate. Typical activities include (1) selecting and implementing major objectives and priorities, (2) playing a central role in the selection and evaluation of high-quality leadership, (3) leading, fostering and supporting the development of management systems, (3) and assuring timely and effective performance. Recognize and resolve operational issues of the Laboratory through multi-disciplinaryteams that cross cut the Laboratory. Manage a diverse array of processes and responsibilities and coordinates the planning, development and implementation efforts of major projects/programs. Represent the Deputy Director for Operations/COO in a wide variety of internal and external venues. Serves as back-up to and act on behalf of the Deputy LaboratoryDirector for Operations/Chief Operations Officer.

Associate Division Director responsible for engineering groups that maintain and advance the design of x-ray instrumentation and accelerator based components at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory.

Responsible for accelerator and x-ray beamline groups that had responsibility for the day to day operations of the Advanced Photon Source.

Scientific facility director, instrumentation designer, and manager of a small team that built and operated a scientific x-ray facility for industrial and academic research at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Lab. Facility director position was held from 1998 to 2005 and the title is final rank achieved while being employed by the University.
