WHAT I DO: I help business owners achieve their goals of selling their business to outside third parties or key employees. I concentrate on businesses in the AEC (architectural, engineering, and construction) industry, businesses that provide B2B services, and healthcare practices. Most of my clients are in the neglected niche - businesses that are generally too complex for the "main street broker" that sells gas stations, liquor stores, and restaurants, but are too small for M&A firms that prefer multi-million dollar transactions. I approach the selling of a business from a Banker's perspective with the knowledge of the financial and non-financial factors that will influence success. Just like there is a process to sell a home by de-cluttering, painting and improving the landscaping; there is a process to prepare a business for sale. The differences are complexity, the time needed, and amount of money at risk. If you do not prepare a home to be sold, you will likely sell it for less than maximum value. If you do not prepare a business to be sold, you are unlikely to sell it. I also help business owners obtain financing that they need when the banks say "no". As former Commercial Loan Offices, I know Banks take a “measured” approach because they are FDIC insured. I also know, that banks pass on good loans all the time because of their risk tolerance (or lack thereof). As a result, my network of over 500 lenders extends beyond banks to include non-banks, private equity and lenders of last resort.
