• Directed OAG human trafficking civil litigation strategy and provided complex legal guidance for criminal prosecutions, legislative proposals and policy goals.
• Managed Civil Team, establishing priorities and objectives, including direction of OAG civil litigation and related policies.
• Appeared on behalf of the State of Texas in human trafficking criminal prosecutions throughout the state.
• Drafted legislation and develop policies to achieve OAG’s goal of eradicating human trafficking in Texas.
• Represented the OAG in high-level meetings with partners and stakeholders, including other state agencies, federal agencies, law enforcement and legislators.

• Acted as associate counsel to Crime Victims Services Division of the OAG (CVSD).
• Provided general legal information to OAG executive staff on issues related to victim services, medical treatment of victims, privacy, public information requests and compliance with state and federal laws.
• Wrote administrative rules and policies for effective delivery of services to victims in the state of Texas, including overhaul of rules governing payment and processing of medical bills for emergency treatment.
• Assisted OAG litigation division and management in the pursuit and defense of lawsuits related to CVSD.
• Presided over informal (non-APA) administrative hearings related to applications for Crime Victims’ Compensation, issuing more than 700 administrative decisions on behalf of the OAG.

• Served as counsel in pro bono human rights cases.
• Directed appeal of improperly convicted elderly client on death row, drafting all documents filed with court, including appeal itself, resulting in exoneration.
• Provided counsel, research, pleadings and trial strategy to prosecutors and national attorneys in cases of child sexual assault, leading to 5 successful convictions.

• Provided advice and comprehensive legal services for business clients.
• Acted as lead attorney on litigation matters, including employment disputes, breaches of contract or lease, and partnership dissolution, guiding cases through mediation and trial.
• Created and negotiated contracts, including employment contracts, franchise agreements, business purchases, partnership formation, leases, real estate transfers, and settlements.
