  John Rathke manages transportation projects including highway improvements, bridge replacements, interchanges, rehabilitations, and bridge coordination, utility coordination, public involvement, environmental studies, structural design, hydraulic design, PS&E preparation, erosion control plans, traffic control plans, and project administration. He serves as project manager for bridge replacement, new bridge design projects, and rehabilitations and inspections. His project responsibilities include roadway design, agency coordination, utility coordination, public involvement, environmental documentation, structural design, hydraulic design, PS&E document preparation, and erosion control plan preparation.His bridge and highway design projects include relocations, rural two-lane highways, four-lane expressways, urban streets, interchanges, and railroad grade separations. The bridge structures range in size from small single-span concrete and timber bridges to large multi-span reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel girder bridges over rivers, railroads, and highways. His bridges have also included aesthetic design considerations.His experience includes the preparation of bridge rehabilitation reports that assess the structural and geometric adequacy of structures, develops alternatives to correct bridge deficiencies, and recommends feasible alternatives based on sound engineering principles.He has supervised and participated in bridge inspections for approximately 600 bridges throughout Wisconsin including truss, arch, girder, box, and slab bridges. His expertise includes inspection of bridges constructed of timber, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, and masonry.
