Managerial duties included supervising a staff of five reporters, assigning stories, assisting in story development, scheduling coverage of news and sports, production of special sections, maintaining the newspaper website, and recruiting stringers and contributing writers.

After spending three months as a staff writer, I advanced to state desk and later to a newly developed six-man breaking news team, which monitored breaking news across the state, including Oklahoma City and the metro area. Job duties included rapid generation of online stories, photos and video, and complete rewrites for the next day's paper as well as providing regular online news video.

In a newly created position, continued covering city beat and spot news while supervising a team of four reporters, assigning stories and photos and assisting in story development. Additional duties included oversight of online projects and web development, and supervision of a shared web content coordinator.
