About Dr. John R. Carlisle

As owner of Carlisle Educational Services, Dr. John (J.R.) Carlisle commands more than 35 years of experience in performing arts education. A graduate of the music education program at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, he began his career as an instrumental and vocal music teacher with Federal Hocking Local Schools in Stewart, Ohio. Desiring to support students' artistic development at a higher level, John Carlisle then pursued and received a graduate degree in education leadership from West Virginia University. He assumed a supervisory role in 1997 as instrumental music coordinator for the West Carrollton City Schools in Ohio, where he strengthened the program's regional and national reputation as well as its operating budget. In 2003, John Carlisle accepted the title of humanities community principal for Colonel White High School in Dayton, Ohio. For three years, he supervised and collaborated with 30 instructional staff to improve curriculum and program cohesiveness for the school's 1200 students. Subsequently advancing to the role of principal at Cincinnati's School for the Creative and Performing Arts, he achieved schedule improvements for the arts as well as academics, and initiated an agreement with MTV to host a television show with student performers. Mr. Carlisle now leverages this broad base of experience to advise program directors across the country.
