I've worked on the 1.6.0, 1.6.1, 1.7.0, 1.7.1, 1.7.2 and 1.8.0 releases of the official eBay Android app. Google gave this app the Android "Top Developer" badge to indicate it is an Editor's Choice as a best and most trusted Android application.I lead development on the 1.6.1 release. I've implemented SQLite databases using a ContentProvider and ContentResolver model and worked with SOAP client-server communication. I also automated the build system using Ant build scripts.

I worked on Android OS multimedia middleware software. Specifics included maintaining the AAC and MP3 audio codecs and adding HDMI support at the middleware layer. This meant routing audio from the Android AudioFlinger to the ALSA HAL layer and resampling audio from 44.1 KHz to HDMI-capable 48 KHz.

I updated both Android and iPhone applications for tarot.com TodaysHoroscope. These were popular applications with over 50,000 downloads each. I added improved navigation (icon-based home screen and toolbar screen selection), ability to post to friend's Facebook page and user's Twitter feed as well as other minor features.

I developed Windows applications using C++ and also did Windows device driver work for a tablet used for CAD drawing.

This company manufactured PC video adapters and larger air traffic control systems (2K x 2K pixel monitors using radar scan convertors). I worked on various PC device drivers for their video adapters including the AutoCAD ADI driver and the Windows video driver. I also worked on X-Windows server development for their air traffic control system that ran on various workstations (HP, IBM, etc.).

This company built a parallel computer based on the Inmos Transputer chip that could have up to 32 processors (CPUs). The transputer was the first microprocessor to have a floating point unit embedded in it (years before the 486 came out) and so it attracted interest from the scientific community. I worked on operating system kernel development for the Unix-like proprietary operating system and on compiler development and maintenance for C, C++ and Fortran. I also migrated various programs to use parallel algorithms to enhance performance.

This was a consulting firm that had contracts with large clients such as Intel. I worked on PC device drivers such as an AutoCAD ADI driver and a Windows display driver. I also did Windows application programming and wrote a program to drive an optical scanner that used the parallel port to interface to the PC.

This firm made a small, inexpensive integrated circuit tester that could also test chips. Eventually this firm was bought out by Harris Semiconductor. I developed user interface software under MS-DOS to communicate with the chip tester and allow the user to run tests. I also wrote some related utility programs, such as a test vector generator. This job also involved some VAX programming since that's where simulator output was obtained from. This work was all done in C.

This was a vitamin company and I was hired out of college to do business programming on a DataPoint ARC System in the proprietary language DataBUS. The tasks here were database-oriented. The user interface on non-graphic terminals was minimal.
