John Romano is employed by the Lynchburg Police Department where he has served the citizens of the City of Lynchburg for over 25 years. He currently holds the rank of Sergeant and is assigned to the Professional Standards Unit as an Internal Affairs detective who is responsible for administrative investigations and various administrative responsibilities.Sergeant Romano has extensive experience in criminal investigations as a detective with over a decade of experience investigating persons, property, and cybercrime, as well as, conducting digital forensic examinations and analysis.In 2010, he assisted the Lynchburg Police Department with the initial planning and implementation of a digital forensic laboratory for the recovery and examination of digital evidence.In 2014 he assisted the department with laying the foundation for the formation of a full time Forensics Unit, which he supervised until 2017.From 2017 to 2022 he was assigned to the department's Field Operations Division Power Shift and assisted with the administration and supervision of the department's K-9 Unit.John Romano has served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police John Lynch Lodge #34, which is a fraternal organization made up of sworn law enforcement officers and civilian auxiliary members.John Romano has served on the Board of Directors for the Central Virginia Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), which recruits, trains, and supports volunteer advocates for abused and neglected children in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court system and provides education to the community about the needs of these children.
