It covers local news throughout the Maryland-Virginia-D.C. area as well as national and international occurrences, breaking news and trends. Responsibilities:Managed the floor of the morning news show on weekends and when needed, on week days with jobs consisting of setting up sets, directing and instructing anchors and running teleprompter. Managed the overnight assignment desk on weekends. Jobs consisted of listing to scanners for local crime reports; liaising with police about details on reported shootings, fires and theft; collecting news tips from callers; and monitoring social media (Twitter, Facebook) for breaking news and online trending stories. Wrote news headlines and stories on local and national events, crimes, politics and breaking news for morning news show. Floor directed and teleprompted a weekly sports show, a daily talk show and weather cut-ins. Responsibilities: Pitched and wrote three-to-four stories daily on international and national stories in space and app technology, educational legislation, crime (e.g. theft, fires, kidnapping), health, art and human-interest stories. Researched, pitched and helped report on pressing news matters, such as the Ebola crisis and the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases, and on breaking news, such as the Sydney hostage siege in Australia.Learned and used search engine optimization tactics to increase traffic to the ABC website. Researched and pitched stories twice daily to the Digital Reporting team in the morning and afternoon. Achievements:The Drudge Report picked up a story I wrote on the New Horizon spacecraft and its nine-year mission toward Pluto, driving a high amount of traffic to the ABC News website. The story got over 2,000 views in one week and was one of the highest read stories on the website for the whole week.

The Stony Brook Press was a bi-weekly student newspaper that covered news, features, sports, art and pop culture at Stony Brook University and in the surrounding areas. Pitched and reported on weekly stories regarding student government, environmental innovation, religious freedom and civil rights, university protocol, trending music videos and artistic exhibitions.Managed and pitched story ideas for the news section of the paper and the website. Managed and taught a group of five interns in one semester how to find and cover stories and made sure they each met the requirements to receive school credit for their internships.
