Performed three years of teaching service while “waiting” for oil and gas industry to rebound. I enjoyed sharing my engineering expertise and industry passion through teaching classes in Applied Design Process, Engineering, Drafting (SolidWorks, SketchUp, hand drafting, hand sketching), Mathematics, and Problem Solving to over ~450 students.Successes:My students achieved 98% passing rate on standardized exams, and Algebra STAAR “re-testers” passed at three times the district rate.

Conducted onsite manufacture surveys for Certified Drilling Equipment with strong emphasis on subsea blow out preventers (BOPs). Tested materials, manufacturing, and function of all drilling equipment prior to certification.Successes:• Enabled equipment design standard classification under ABS rules by reviewing documentation, publishing certification reports, and meticulously maintaining logs & records. Documented acceptance or rejection of drilling equipment for certification.• Upheld all regulatory codes & standards, ensured manufacturing and testing processes adhered to design specifications and regulatory requirements, including Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and HSE and Quality (HSEQ) standards.• Monitored, inspected, verified, and documented up to ~150 daily tasks/operations at several vendor sites, including tracking dozens of activities simultaneously at a single large site, executing 50+ operations across several acres.• Served team as design and manufacturing code knowledge base by constantly expanding comprehension of relevant API, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, IADC, ASME, AISC, and American Welding Society (AWS) codes, plus USCG, DNV/GL and other standards.• Integrated into team of 8-12 quickly and seamlessly to drive safe execution of work, while communicating documentation control, material specs, manufacturing procedure, and testing procedure discrepancies in professional and timely manner.• Built solid relationships with QC/QA and project management teams by offering high schedule availability, positive interactions, and a fast, clear, and portable documentation system.

I served as the change management gatekeeper for all modifications to rig equipment, structure, and operational plans/procedures; ensured modifications were properly designed, approved and documented. I supervised repairs and maintenance of rig equipment.In addition, I served as intermediary between shore-based engineering and rig personnel. Led TapRooT incident investigations for LTIs.Successes:• Commissioned and certified new build deep-water semi-sub with no incidents or injuries during months after the Macondo / Deepwater Horizon incident by anticipating and adapting process to meet changing regulations and standards.• Instituted documentation control system that reduced unplanned rig downtime by 35-40% by simultaneously executing pending maintenance of critical equipment. System reduced costs by 48% and reduced turnaround time for long-term critical equipment maintenance and ensured all parts, supplies, materials, tools, and equipment arrived onsite on time.• Saved $400k/year/rig and reduced turnaround time to repair critical drilling control equipment from 7 months to ~4 hours by working closely with vendor to develop a separate workpath to eliminate bottleneck. Developed training program and onsite repair system that enabled rig personnel to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and test the Amphion system.• Prevented blowout preventer (BOP) loss and riser damage during hurricane by quickly self-learning API design code and conducting simulations that showed proposed plan’s high risk of failure; stored BOP on deck with no loss during storm.• Championed safe working habits by conducting daily safety briefings and technical reviews with rig crews, supervisor meetings to address safety concerns, and safety checks of entire rig. Reviewed safety plans and work instructions, giving final approval.• Ensured strict regulatory compliance with company, industry, and government standards by collaborating with fellow engineers to meet current and future constraints.

Hired straight out of college after interning two years. I developed ~30-50/year various safe, cost-effective, efficient structural designs for drilling rig components within tight time constraints. Engineered and supervised field repairs of land rigs.Successes:• Successfully designed and implemented structural repairs of 15 land drilling rigs with zero lost time incidents.• Rescued and turned around a 12-week delayed project within 5 weeks to deliver structural design only one week late.• Rectified frequent structural failures of new land rig by conducting failure mode analysis to pinpoint and correct cause.• Created searchable database enabling quick access to ~700 historical drilling rig designs, boosting productivity.
