Group including international operations in India and Mauritius, Financial Services (including FSA regulated activities) as well as the core trading and charitable activities.Achievements include: creating class leading Internal Audit department ensuring organisational compliance with Best Practice internal controls achieving clear external audit reports, developing and implementing annual work plan, moving organisation from traditional Finance focussed audits to Risk Based audits (including Editorial, IT and Marketing) and Post Implementation Reviews of major system changes; enhancing Group Audit Committee reporting to reflect best practice including the delivery of a Risk Assurance Matrix; demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills through developing and maintaining strong working relations with Audit Committee, Board, Council, staff at all levels and external auditors; develop, introduce and maintain organisation wide Risk Register and train senior staff in Risk Management to deliver a FTSE level of implementation; establishment of best practice FSA compliance function including recruitment and management of Compliance Officer and Compliance Administrator, development of Compliance Plan and Board Reporting, working to embed the importance of Compliance with Editorial, Marketing and Online teams, budgetary responsibility for Compliance and Internal Audit;Undertook a number of special projects. Areas reviewed include head office and operational areas.Special assignments included due diligence work and liaison with lawyers on sale of the AA to Centrica plc and audits of European Operations in Brussels and Lyon (on behalf of the European Motoring Clubs Supervisory Board).
