The Bytown Museum, at the base of the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, showcases Ottawa's history. As the Program Coordinator Intern, I was responsible for developing the museum's Canada 150 programming. This included a week-long festival with a budget of approximately $30,000. This was a bilingual position.Over the course of my internship I:- Created and developed historical and cultural programming for all ages;- Booked performers, coordinated equipment rentals and site planning, all while managing a $30,000 budget;- Developed publicity material in coordination with the Museum's Marketing and Communications Manager;- Cultivated relationships with heritage and cultural groups in the National Capital Region;- Ensured a smooth transition at the end of my internship that guaranteed successful events. I also took on additional research responsibilities and developed - from conception to delivery - a 60 minute tour of the Museum highlighting Ottawa's immigrants and social movements.

Ministry of Coffee is an independent coffee shop that prides itself on both its excellent coffee and knowledgeable staff. As a barista, I made high-quality coffees, developed deep and meaningful relationships with customers, and trained both customers and colleagues in coffee-making techniques and tasting methods.

During my undergrad, I worked as a teaching assistant for four terms. More importantly, I helped struggling students with test-taking strategies, essay writing tips, and general concerns about course material, addressing concerns promptly and professionally (both via email and in office hours).

As a capital interpreter I welcomed visitors to Ottawa's Capital Region, providing bilingual historical information about the city's development and landmarks in particular, and Canadian history in general. Furthermore, I oriented and informed visitors based on their needs, interests, and expectations, helping to plan travel itineraries and suggesting activities and future destinations. I also worked with Word and Excel to prepare documents and tools for both visitors and my colleagues.

Responsibilities included organizing materials and tools for carpenters, maintaining a clean and safe job site, setting up and taking down sites and machinery, performing manual labour as needed.

Responsibilities included establishing relationships with customers on a daily basis, cleaning and maintaining a friendly and presentable atmosphere in the store, handling cash, and making lattes, cappuccinos, and other drinks.
