Entigen developed BioNavigator, a web-based scalable data integration solution for drug discovery and life science researchers. I led improvements in teamwork and productivity of a development team on two continents, migrating code into a new stack and toolchain. As a result, the company was able to deliver BioNavigator to market within 9 months of my arrival.

Explored strategies for using the internet to enhance performance and distribution of Lumisys’ core digital radiology product offering. Eastman Kodak acquired Lumisys and AuntMinnie.com in December 2000

Architected the website, hired the team, grew the site from zero to a million plus page views per month, leading to Kodak’s interest in acquiring Lumisys

Led the development of Agilent’s second generation genetic analysis system, and helped deliver the leading laser fluorescence DNA microarray scanner to market with Affymetrix. For the G2500A scanner, I led architecture and software development, wrote much of the real time code, and designed and wrote patent applications for the focusing and spatial calibration systems. Agilent’s goal for the second generation was to deliver a fully integrated solution including ordering, array fab, reagents, sample prep, scanner, and data management. I interviewed customers and industry experts and wrote the architecture spec for the overall system, led cross-functional teams working on feature extraction and array QC, and managed development programs for hardware, software, and web systems.

1989-1991: Lead software engineer, wrote most of the real-time firmware and designed first-pass processor board for the HP 5071a Cesium Beam Frequency Standard - still shipping (as Microsemi 5071a) over 30 years later, this product has been the nearly exclusive source of the world standard for time, and a key component of GPS ground stations, inertial navigation, and telecommunications sync.1981-1988: Process Engineer - developed factory automation and customer hardware and software; led Statistical Process Control effort that reduced defects by a factor of 15 over two years.
