Compliance Manager
CurrentAs a member of Senior Staff, I have primary responsibility for managing the State Compliance Review program and monitoring and reviewing The Appraisal Foundation (TAF) to ensure compliance with Title XI and ASC objectives. This includes coordinating and managing the compliance program process for possible improvements and efficiencies, planning review schedules and priorities, and assigning team leaders and members. I supervise a team of six program managers and one regulatory affairs specialist, who are primarily responsible for performing State Appraiser and Appraisal Management Company (AMC) Compliance Reviews. I review these reports for consistency, accuracy, and thoroughness.Reporting to the Executive Director, I monitor staff progress and evaluate performance. This includes analyzing programs to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, preparing responses to internal and external inquiries regarding Title XI, State appraiser, and AMC regulatory programs, and evaluating a State program’s compliance process to recommend improvements. I accomplish this by reviewing schedules and priorities to assign team leaders and members, using qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the effectiveness of compliance review programs, and revising and/or drafting guidance for State regulators to include policy statements and/or compliance review procedures.I analyze policy issues affecting the ASC’s responsibilities by leveraging my extensive network of industry contacts, participating in meetings and action groups that include TAF, the real estate appraisal industry, user groups, appraiser educators, and State appraiser regulators, and addressing emerging trends. I prepare reports, presentations, position papers, and/or other background information to formulate policies and evaluate program effectiveness. I use my extensive knowledge of the real estate appraiser regulatory system to assist Senior Staff in analyzing program issues.
