I’ve spent my career working at the intersection of learning + digital media + storytelling, leading the design and research of online and blended programs across all levels: middle school, high school, undergraduate, graduate and workplace learning. Currently helping MasterClass at Work become the go-to platform for durable skills development. Learning scientist and designer , Product Leader, UX Researcher, Artist, and New Media theorist. 15+ years of experience in education and technology as a teacher, researcher, product manager, and online course designer. My learning sciences background includes expertise in online/hybrid course design, collaborative learning, gamification, Universal Design for Learning, digital literacies, and culturally relevant pedagogy. I am a mixed-methods UX researcher with experience leading research activities for consumer growth and enterprise growth teams as well as consumer and enterprise core product teams. I have published my research in international journals and books on digital literacy, social learning, online learning, and language. For my PhD work at UC Berkeley, I conceptualized and led the development of a suite of collaboration tools integrated into an online undergraduate education class that I designed, taught, and researched. My dissertation uses neural networks, regression models, and digital ethnography to explore practices of remix, collaboration, and gamification in online learning environments. Prior to my PhD work, I served as a special education art and media literacy teacher in NYC Public Schools, where I worked with incarcerated juveniles. I have also taught undergraduate and graduate courses in education and new media at UC Berkeley and New York University. My artistic and educational works have been showcased at the Pink Pony Cafe (NYC), Passerby Gallery (NYC), the Queens Museum of Art (NYC), the Brooklyn Museum of Art (NYC), the Pacific Film Archive (Berkeley), Bing Concert Hall (Stanford), and the Goethe Institut (San Francisco).
