As a curious, adventure seeking and bootstrapping visionary, I am passionate about agriculture and innovating the food supply chain. I build organizations and strategic alliances focused on enabling the integration of a sustainable meat proteins supply chain that produces quality food and delivers real value for all, from farmers to end consumers.With a simple philosophy of “deliver real value for the consumer”, I founded Retail Ready in 1988. It has grown to be a leading meat procurement and merchandising company offering trend and market insight coupled with reliable JIT delivery in Ontario and Colombia.Years of helping customers make better protein purchasing decisions highlighted an opportunity to create a more meaningful connection between people and production and so I launched LiberTerre, our premium-quality, humanely raised, hormone-free and antibiotic-free fresh pork brand, in 2010. With market fluctuations and consolidation prevalent in the market, I started my latest venture, J.S. Ferraro & Company, a custom margin management firm, in 2016. It’s a natural extension of Retail Ready and LiberTerre, helping organizations with large exposure to agriculture commodities manage margins and address market fluctuations with confidence.Over the last 30 years and across all of my companies, I’m most proud of the people that I call my team, who share the same passion, drive and values. They represent the brightest and most experienced in the agriculture business.
