Conduct research on all technologies related to high performance computing.

Serving as lead software architect for Hostway’s enterprise infrastructure called ServicePlex, implemented as a service oriented architecture (SOA) designed to scale to millions of users. Supervised 18 developers working on the implementation of Hostway’s billing, provisioning, domain registration and web application platform, servicing over 750,000 customers. Recruited and trained each member of the team. Coordinating development efforts with remote teams in India, Romania, Korea and Canada, streamlining time to market, while minimizing development costs. Launched Hostway’s implementation of test driven development (TDD) process by employing best practices from agile and XP processes. Providing weekly and monthly progress reports directly to senior management. Developing short and long-term project plans based on the company’s strategic priorities. Serving as the bridge between the technical and business groups.

Managed six developers in the implementation of billing logic and web applications including Hostway’s customer portal called SiteControl, a system that enables customers to order, activate and configure Hostway’s products. Gathered requirements from business groups, proposed designs and workflow, as well as developed/maintained project plans. Key projects included the launch of five new brands, the completion of four mergers/acquisitions and the release of several new end user products including SiteKitchen and the External Agent Program. Developed entity relational diagrams (ERD) and data models for web-based and back-office applications. Developed a process for performing regular code reviews, resulting in the sharing of best practices among developers, improved code quality and increased team collaboration.

Lead developer on several key in-house applications including Hostway’s first generation billing, account management and provisioning systems. Solutions enabled the company to scale quickly from 50,000 to over 200,000 customers. Designed applications to run on a cluster of machines using synchronization and job scheduling techniques to distribute work and collect results. Refactored business logic spread over multiple scripts into a business logic layer. Rebuilt all applications on top of the new business logic layer, removing inconsistencies and taking advantage of code reuse.
