Drawing upon his extensive expertise in product design, development, and intellectual property within the medical device industry, John was engaged as an expert witness over 2 years in multiple IP disputes involving two multinational MedTech corporations. He diligently produced detailed expert witness reports and underwent a rigorous 2-day cross-examination at the High Court in London. Subsequently, John provided advisory and expert witness services for two related IP cases in Germany and New Zealand

Inspirate medical is a start-up providing a unique custom fit CPAP mask for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. It provides each patient a personalised masks with perfect fit, using its patented 3D modelling algorithm. John has been advising the company on both technical and go-to-market strategy. The product is due to launch in 2016.

John led alliance management in the Life-Science sector, translating intellectual property into products for commercialization. He facilitated collaboration between NUS research groups and multinational companies, securing $30M in industry investment over two years. As the commercial lead, he helped establish a $70M national Healthcare Centre, managing deal selection, investments, and program reviews. John also mentored five NUS spin-offs, including two in medical devices and three in diagnostics, sequencing, and synthetic biology.

Responsible for all sales and marketing activities including PR, advertising, strategy, routes to market, distributor management, exhibitions, relationship management, product management and direct marketing. I led a small team focused on building the Ecospec brand and sales base through a network of country distributors and also direct sales. Target markets are in marine structures, power generation, oil and gas, petro-chemical, water treatment and cooling plant technology.

He fostered a customer-centric approach, introducing a segment-based sales model and incentive programs. John served on the UK board, managing a $120M P&L, handling operational aspects and leading a diverse team across the UK and Eire. He spearheaded international service centre modernization across multiple countries.

John led the R&D department at Pneupac's ventilator franchise, overseeing all technical aspects, from design to compliance. Under his guidance, a team of 15 Engineers and Designers developed a new range of ventilators, integrating commercial awareness with scientific expertise. He managed new product development, sustaining engineering, and production equipment and transformed delivery practice with a commercial mindset, leading to increased revenue and reduced costs. John built and supervised a diverse team skilled in mechanical, electrical, software, CAD, and production, while establishing development pathways and recruiting new engineers to foster innovation and growth.

He led significant acquisition and partnering for substantial product lines in China, Türkiye, USA, and navigating complex commercial and regulatory landscapes, including post-EU accession regulatory strategies for 98 product ranges.
