Participated as a member of a research laboratory led by an adjunct professor in residence from the USDA-ARS. We were tasked with researching the physiology of carbon dioxide uptake by soybean plants at the level of individual leaf, whole plant, and plant canopy (field studies) using infra-red CO2 gas exchange and tracing the uptake and translocation of photo-assimilates using ratioactive carbon as carbon-14.

Assisting in the teaching of Introduction to Botany, enrollment 500 students per semester. Assisted in the coordination of as well as teaching with approximately a dozen TA's assigned to provide instruction in approximately 20 weekly laboratory sections and 40 weekly discussion groups. In addition to teaching several laboratory sections and discussion groups, I presented occasional lectures and assisted in writing and research in efforts to improve introductory botany education at the collegiate level.
