In addition to physical events, I produced educational materials such as posters and leaflets, and hosted international delegates to share Singapore’s heritage planning efforts.iii. Regulatory Work:Through day-to-day processing, I provided guidance to ensure development proposals aligned with guidelines and best practices. This also required staying updated on industry trends to inform heritage policy decisions.iv. Policy Work:I worked on developing and assessing policies related to heritage conservation and resource management. I engaged with government agencies and stakeholders to integrate heritage considerations into urban planning.v. Shaping the Next Generation:I inspired future generations through presentations and collaborations. Through a film collaboration project with NTU’s Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, I collaborated with 410 student filmmakers to produce 82 short films on heritage buildings, available on YouTube.
Architectural Consultant
Undertook technical work related to architectural preservation, conservation, restoration and maintenance of National Monuments, the diverse portfolio can be sub-dived into four main areas:i. Regulatory Inspections Managing and conducting inspections of the 72 National Monuments, administering the Preservation of Monuments Act (PMA) to ensure that monuments were well maintained. ii. Policy WorkResearch and co-authoring a paper for the successful grant of S$12 million for the National Monuments Fund (NMF) – the only source of government funding to assist religious/non-profit monument owners with high costs of restoration projects, as successfully utilised in monuments such as St Joseph’s Church and Sri Mariamman Temple. iii. Design Consultations Engaging stakeholders such as building owners, architects and contractors and working towards a sensitive design which harmonises with the monument yet keeping the heritage fabric intact. Projects involved include the new lift extension of Sultan Mosque or the air-conditioning of the Church of Saints Peter & Paul.iv. Knowledge Sharing Presentations were conducted in order to inform monument owners on the value/significance of their buildings, including representing Singapore in the conference The Future of Preservation – exploring approaches and principles that govern best practices in restoration processes, focusing on sustainability and preservation.

Project ManagementDealt in various aspects of project management, including but not limited to the scope of contractual issues pertaining to financial variations and tasked with jobs including conceptualising, organisation aptitude and logistical planning. This task involved high level of external engagement, dealing with client liaison, defects rectification and time management skills.
