  • Aether
    Senior Network Engineer
    Aether 2001 - 2003
Systems engineering. Analyzed the data traffic loads and subscriber unit capacity of the Aether mobile messaging satellite system for maximum allocation of resources and frequencies. (Aether bought the Transportation division from Motient; Recommended engineering cost benefit analysis of leased satellite power & bandwidth to reduce unnecessary satellite frequency channels and power to cut costs over $2Million over 2001-2003. Initiated a monthly satellite cost verification process that was outside the contract between the company that owns the MSV Corp. Satellite, and Aether who leased access. This created a new process for verifying the frequencies and power used in the billing between the two companies, and started Aether's lower monthly satellite bills.Interfaced with former parent company (MSV) on all frequency allocations within FCC allocation. Managed and assigned over 440 forward and return L-band frequencies for five store and forward data switches, the Land Earth Stations (LES) to maintain operations and reduce frequencies that were underutilized. Initiated and wrote standard installation procedures for uplink frequencies used by several engineers to stop repeated engineering problems with frequency additions, reducing system problems and cutting costs for non-functioning frequencies.
  • Motient
    Senior Network Engineer
    Motient 1999 - 2001
    Us
Systems engineering. Analyzed the data traffic loads and subscriber unit capacity of the Motient mobile messaging satellite system for allocations of resources and frequencies. Maintained Grade of Service (adequate capacity with a minimum of blockage) for the Motient-TMI satellite mobile phone system by monitoring call loads and adding frequencies where needed System engineer on the satellite data system and the Motient satellite mobile phone system. Maintained the Motient –TMI geosynchronous satellite power and frequency channel load vs. capacity allocations.
  • Orbcomm Global, Inc.
    Principal Systems Engineer
    Orbcomm Global, Inc. 1997 - 1999
Satellite engineering, project management. Orbital Sciences Corp. Microstar satellites: Monitored satellite subsystem performance to include power and communications. Filled a gap in company structure, became liaison between satellite engineering and operations groups to define the working procedures between them to help prevent satellite problems on and satellite configuration changes. Started and directed interface meetings to create joint engineering and operations policies and procedures. • Initiated and implemented launch preparations that they lacked, such as launch and operations plans, communications plans, launch-only telemetry monitoring, shift operations, and made new problem review teams to help multiple companies work together to monitor the launches and solve or understand satellite power and hardware disengagement problems.• Initiated, specified, purchased, installed, and tested $112,000 worth of satellite engineering telemetry monitoring system that provided satellite information to the launch team. Sole engineer to learn the company acquisition process to manage this project to completion. This system was ready ahead of schedule and included an intercom, Sun SPARC workstations, PCs, and Matlab licenses. • Identified and resolved problems of the electrical power subsystems of the Orbital Sciences Corp. Microstar satellites, using STK (Satellite Tool Kit) and Matlab to maintain a high (98.5%) satellite availability and maximum transmitter operation for message traffic.
  • Csc
Senior Member Of Technical Staff - Systems Engineer
    Csc Jan 1989 - Jan 1997
