Championing impactful and sustainable asset and service Public-Private Partnerships for Africa

Due to the need to address the local capacity gap, I founded the Africa Project Finance Program, a bespoke training program that equips professionals with practical skills and knowledge in infrastructure project finance and Public Private Partnerships.I play a key role in the identification of expert trainers with practical experience in the management of large infrastructure projects especially in the emerging markets.Additionally, I coordinate and engage with governments and other stakeholders involved in the financing and management of infrastructure so as to explore the adoption of best practices in the preparation, financing and management of infrastructure projects.

As the CEO, I was actively involved in the provision of strategic direction and planning for the company. I interact and manage the engagement with different stakeholders and partners to ensure the achievement of the company's vision.As the Project Finance Lead, I liaise with the technical experts comprising of Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Architects, Project Managers, Lawyers and Associate Tax Consultants in the efficient structuring and packaging of our clients' project proposals so as to ensure that they are bankable and attractive to financing. I also walk with our clients in the conceptualization of projects by ensuring efficient decision making on pricing, financing, implementation among others through building of robust project financing models.

Short term assignment aimed at implementing a turnaround strategy in the planning, financing, monitoring and management of infrastructure projects in the transport, energy and real estate sectors in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Reporting directly to the CFO Africa, I was charged with the responsibility of overseeing planning, reporting and control of projects in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo, Gambia and Senegal. I provided strategic advisory, supervision and support to the Project Controllers in Africa.

Project Financial Controller of a 148m Euro 436km 400kV transmission line project connecting the biggest wind farm in Africa to the national grid in Suswa. The roles of the job included among others:1. Review of project cost drivers and project profit optimization2. Tracking of project cost against target project implementation milestones3. Enhancing efficiency in project planning and budgeting process4. Timely reallocation of project costs among projects in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Senegal.5. Helping the Africa CFO in reviewing project cash flows for projects in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Senegal, Gambia. 6. Reviewing and approving monthly subcontractor certificates7. Negotiating project finance facilities including working capital lines, letters of credit, project guarantees etc8. Retirement and renewal of project financing facilities.9. Project stakeholder management including the Client and Client's Consultant, Project Financiers, Subcontractors, Legal Consultants and the Revenue Authority.11. SAP system management12. Tax planning and management.13. Coordination with external auditors and ensure implementation of audit procedures.

Project Accountant in charge of the following:1. Set up of the entire Project Accounting Team and structure.2. Review of financing and accounting manual for the project.3. Review of project accounting by the Project Accountants.4. Coordination of the project planning and budgeting process.5. Project cost management and reporting.6. Asset management and control.7. Management of letters of credit facility for procurement of project materials abroad.8. Project progress reporting to banks providing the syndicated loan on behalf of Government of Spain.9. Project cash flow management.

The Economic and Commercial Office is a creation of the Ministry of Economy of Spain whose objective is to promote investment by Spanish companies in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Mauritius.My roles included:1. Advising Spanish companies on the investment opportunities in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Mauritius.2. Review of projects advertised by contracting authorities and countries under the jurisdiction of the office. 3. Accounting and management of SAP system.4. Coordination of budgeting process.5. Cash flow management.6. Preparation and submission of financial statements and reports to the Ministry of Economy in Spain.7. Management of operations of ICEX - Spanish Foreign Investment Institution. 8. Fixed asset management and control.9. Ensuring compliance to the accounting and tax standards.
