I am the science teacher for the high school teaching integrated Environmental Science, Earth Science and Chemistry to our 9th and 10th graders in a 2-year cycle while teaching our 11th and 12th grade International Baccalaureate Biology courses. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am an advisor to the upperclassmen and a backcountry trip leader for our extended experiences we call Journeys.We emphasize community throughout our programming and empower our students to take responsibility for our school in a number of ways. It is an honor to work alongside such outstanding young individuals who are developing their skills in cooperative and communal academics! Supporting the social and emotional growth of these students is one of the many highlights of teaching here at Mountain Academy.

I am the 7th grade science teacher for a teaching team of over 60 eager young minds in Bath, ME! We are a school that believes in the impact of Expeditionary Learning and Restorative Practices for positive social and emotional growth in addition to the curricular expectations of a public school system. I work within my team of science teachers to develop and design our curriculum to the Next Generation Science Standards in a standards based grading system that encourages our students to prove proficiency in skills and abilities as both students and scientists!

Beginning as an Outdoor Educator on the staff team of the Fall programming season in 2016, I had the opportunity to remain on staff in a year round capacity in the roles of Senior Outdoor Educator, Field Coordinator and Coordinator of the Outdoor Classroom Program over the 30 months I worked at Chewonki. In each role, I took on more responsibility for program design and delivery, staff hiring and management, and school relationships and programmatic administration. After feeling the impact of the programming I lead in the Fall of 2016, it was an honor to serve in a number of different roles to support the growth and development of such an excellent environmental education program.

After being a cabin leader and division head for the initial 2 years of this program, I seasonally directed this camp program for 80 young men for years 3-5. In that time, we had sessions full for the following summer before the summer even concluded. We continued to maintain excellent staff retention as all Takodah programs do. This program was setup well with an even stronger admin team to support its continued growth after my departure for continued success. This program is in great hands and it was a pleasure to be a integral part of the first 5 years of this camp.

I had the opportunity to develop and deliver the leadership training curriculum for 16 and 17 year old young men enrolled in the leadership programs at Takodah. This involves planning daily leadership hours as well as planning and leading multi-day back country trips with these fine young men as they learn more about their own leadership abilities through experience both on trail and with camper responsibilities on site. In this role I oversaw the staff that ran the leadership program and held other camp wide duties such as Challenge Course Manager, Division Head and played a large role in staff training.

Challenge course and team building facilitation with youth and student groups, hosting volunteer groups for community service and supporting care taking efforts for the center and surrounding property.

Full teaching responsibilities for a section of AP Physics 1 for the 2015-2016 school year. Student teaching for units in other sections of AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2. Long term substitute for a physical science teacher for 4+ weeks. Night School Education- Physical Science Teacher for a Spring term with students seeking GED diploma credit.
