Nicholas Johnson is a seasoned Software Engineering Leader with over 20 years of experience in the technology industry. He has a proven track record of success and innovation in both corporate and Department of Defense sectors worldwide. Known for his ability to build and scale software solutions and organizations, Nicholas has worked with notable companies such as Amazon, Zonar, and CACI.At Amazon, Nicholas founded, developed, and expanded the AWS Startups Engineering organization, growing it from zero engineers to a multi-discipline, multi-team entity with over 50 members. Under his leadership, the organization successfully delivered more than 14 products. He was responsible for building and maintaining crucial internal tools and customer-facing platforms, including startups.aws and the AWS Activate Console. These tools managed over a billion dollars in credit issuance annually and served hundreds of thousands of startups over five years. AWS Startups is dedicated to continuous innovation and adaptability, providing startups with essential tools, content, technical guidance, and support to scale from concept to IPO/exit with AWS.Nicholas’s military service as an Infantry soldier in the US Army further highlights his innovative spirit. Recognized for his creativity during equipment testing at White Sands with the Army Acquisition Program, he developed several mobile applications, integrated disparate systems, and enhanced ISR and communication capabilities for technology-enabled soldiers. His efforts demonstrated the value of blending modern technology, generational aptitude, and traditional army tactics.After his military service, Nicholas continued to pursue his passion for integrated intelligence gathering platforms and interfaces, working with CACI and Shoneborn-Becker. Outside of his professional life, Nicholas is a devoted husband and enjoys spending time with his three dogs, who provide ample entertainment and distraction from daily work.
