As an experienced attorney practicing in Kansas and Missouri, my aim is to provide wise counsel and legal support to help clients achieve their financial and personal goals. I want to “be there” for people as they face life’s varied challenges through the years. Since 2010 I have helped families, business owners and nonprofits in the Kansas City area with needs in corporate law, estate planning and real estate. Examples of capabilities and experience:- Business law – counseling entrepreneurs and nonprofits in corporate organization; assisting with organization, contract, tax, real estate, intellectual property, collection and bankruptcy matters; providing expertise to MBE/WBE and international clients. - Estates and elder law – developing estate plans and documents, ranging from simple wills to complex estate, tax, and succession planning for high net worth multi-generational clients up to tens of millions in assets; representing estates, guardianships, and conservatorships in probate court; counseling on Medicaid compliance, special needs trusts and trust administration.- Business and fiduciary litigation – advocating for individual and business clients in contract, real estate and construction disputes, as well as probate issues; preparing a wide range of pleadings for litigation; and serving as local counsel for out-of-state law firms.Legal research and writing are strengths. I have written or co-written continuing legal education seminars (CLEs) on taxes, trust law and probate avoidance, probate litigation, nonprofit incorporation and tax-exempt status, as well as op-ed columns in The Kansas City Star and other papers. I created and write the KC Estate Planner blog and the KC Creative Arts blog, staying current with recent legal developments.
