About John T. Spannuth

I've been dedicated to healthcare for my whole career, caring for newborn babies to geriatric patients, and am gratified to continue my career beyond the military. Initially, my experience in the U.S. Navy included numerous deployments across Asia Pacific, Central America, Middle East, and South America. I proudly served and sacrificed for my country, led trauma units and medical/surgical wards, and even held the high-stress Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman position. I have sound judgement, know how to use resources carefully, and can usually find creative solutions to problems. I attained 4 officer promotions before retiring in 2017 as Lieutenant Commander.A key deployment was as a nurse in Afghanistan in 2008, for the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, Operation Enduring Freedom. I supervised 9 staff responsible for direct trauma resuscitation including critical care and air transport in austere/remote locations. I served as the sole medical provider providing medical support during hostile engagements and combat environments. In 2022, I traveled overseas and volunteered with GoDocs in Ukraine providing tactical casualty combat care training to territorial defense forces at numerous locations throughout the country. In general, I strive to work effectively with my colleagues, even in stressful situations, and including those with different backgrounds or from different parts of the world. I try to be objective and fair, respect differences, a good listener, provide clear facts, etc., with a goal of developing strong working relationships with everyone. I enjoy experiencing new cultures, and I work to build trust by being dependable and maintaining high personal integrity.I have achieved certifications as a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARNP), and NP-C from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
