Starting my career at General Motors, I held a succession of business analysis, product/project management, and information technology positions before joining the consulting firm KPMG. In 2002, I started a management-consulting firm primarily serving the federal government in the areas of business process re-engineering, project management, and policy. This business grew to 20 people and over $3mm in annual revenue.Recently, I’ve completed a full-stack software engineering curriculum at the Holberton School in San Francisco. I’m currently working on the machine learning/AI (artificial intelligence) course at Holberton. By nature, I’m drawn to the most difficult problems with potential for high-impact results -- the ones that most people don’t want to solve. Taking this path of most resistance has presented frustrations, but I’ve also achieved many clear successes that led to invitations to solve new problems:• Conducted Pareto analysis and resolved a long-standing and politically-charged $6mm past-due customer order backlog.• Convinced the leadership of a delayed $30 million project, in a highly political and bureaucratic environment, to implement project management methods. Implemented those methods and acted as an honest broker for the ensuing difficult conversations between workgroups.• Executed several multi-million dollar marketing and product programs under intense budgetary review and constraints.I have family in four countries and four states and spend my time with my family in the bay area and Indiana. I'm a slow, but enthusiastic, trail runner; woodworker; aspiring guitarist, artist, and inventor; and I have an affinity for electric, vintage, and modern steel bicycles.
