I started as a taxi boat driver up in Ontario, Canada. No rejection. Lots of fun.Then I sold a bunch of knives for Cutco door-to-door. Some rejection. A lot of sales. Won a 27" TV. Then I sold some industrial chemicals for Dubois Chemical as an intern over the phone. So much rejection. Some sales. Humbling.I delivered kegs for Stinson's throughout my college years at Dartmouth. Made some sandwiches and rang the register. Stocked the beer cooler.After College I chased defaulted student loans for a few months at Fifth Third Bank. Then I sold medical devices for Ethicon-Endo-Surgery, part of J&J for nearly 4 years. So much rejection but extremely rewarding and ultimately a lot of sales.Started Boloco with a few other guys after graduating from Tuck. Was CEO for most of the time since 1997.Helped start B.Good with a couple of other guys. Board from 2004-2016. Sold in 2017. Great lesson to stay out of people's way when they are smart and driven.Invested and advised a couple of dozen startups in consumer and restaurant tech space. Super fun. Still very energizing for me to have the privilege of working closely with so many of these companies, small and some now very large.Today (2024) I spend most of my professional time working for Toast as Product Advisor and Restaurant Evangelist & Advocate. Like to help and be useful where I can, and get out of the way otherwise.🙌
