Provided active leadership role collaborating with colleagues to build the College of Public Health, with particular focus on creating bachelors, masters, and doctoral level degrees in public health. also engaged in research examining integrated health care, SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment) involving high risk populations for alcohol, substance abuse, and depression issues. Additionally conducted research in pre-hospital care with the emergency response community (e.g., firefighters, EMS, law enforcement) to prevent adverse health outcomes and increase operational readiness.

Coordinate the Department of Health Policy and Management’s graduate studies program, with full Master's and Doctoral level curricula in Health Policy and Management.

Direct and coordinate the Department of Health Policy and Management’s robust and growing undergraduate program, with a full curriculum and 300+ students in the Health Services Administration concentration alone. Additionally, responsible for modifying and creating new concentration offerings in Allied Health, Preparedness and Prevention, and expanded BSPH to MPH pathways.

Instruct health care and emergency management professional students how to apply cost benefit/effectiveness analysis to community related disaster programs and issues. Additionally, I am currently developing a financial management course for executive health administration graduate students

•Coordinate multidisciplinary biometrics project comprised of faculty from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University. •Projects involve development of 1) a competition pilot intervention for firefighters, 2) a firefighter “smart vest” black box system to measure physiological and environmental parameters while engaged in an emergency response event so as to aid debriefing or after action"hot washes" following a response event, and 3) an updated oxygen monitoring system for improved time determination of SCBA use left for a scene response.

• Performed as Principal Investigator- "Get Firefighters Moving" Competition Behavioral Intervention Study in which I developed and implemented an occupational health program intervention to improve physical fitness, decrease adverse cardiac and injury outcomes, and improve health care utilization and operational readiness in firefighters• Developing and conducting research on occupational injury and violence prevention, with emphasis on stress, PTSD, and substance abuse as it applies to firefighter health and safety; Also examining youth workforce safety, workplace stress, child maltreatment, and domestic violence outcomes • Served as Investigator on the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation Parents and Working Teens Labor Safety Study, examining occupational health and safety practices of working teens • Create large research proposals, including co-writing an $841,000 adolescent worker safety project and $979,000 FEMA project on firefighter health and safety• Conducted analysis of original and secondary data sets using the quantitative software packages SAS and STATA, and qualitative software Atlas.ti
